Seasonal Affective Disorder

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), sometimes referred to as the “winter blues” is most commonly characterized by the following symptoms:

 

· Depression

· Loss of energy

· Carbohydrate cravings

· Oversleeping

· Loss of interest in pleasurable activities

· Inability or difficulty concentrating

· Weight Gain

 

 

 

Less common, but another type of SAD is associated with changes in the seasons into the summer.  This type is marked with mania and irritability.
